more goats

I bought two lamancha does and then got some random bucks and now two little bucks, one nigerian and one pygmy.
Think I will sell the Jacob sheep....  Processing their fleece is too much trouble.

Trying something new!!!! Jacob Sheep, very hardy critters. I hope to use the fleece with my alpaca to make some yarn.

New adventure   ducks...So much fun. wish I had gotten them a long time ago. 8 babies hatched 3 weeks ago. and they are growing like weeds.  I googled and it says they are grown size in 5 weeks. I believe that. I have to figure out how to post pictures using windows 10. not user friendly.

I decided to try duck. I have 3 males and 6 females. They are cute and so funny. The chickens are thrilled!!!

I had to change my high tensile fence for a woven wire one. now critters are staying in.  I've decided to buy some fainting goats. only little males.  The brush is growing up fast so I need goats to clear the brush.  

End of goats

I sold all my goats!  Miss them so much , but life is easier.
Now I think I'll change to chickens . People like free range eggs.

Ending my life with goats

I've decided to sell my goats . Il still have 2 horse, 2 donkeys and 2 alpacas , plus lots of chickens . Dogs and cats
Changing to studying essential oils . New career !

Fall, cold weather

Only 8 goats and need to sell 2 of them. maybe kids in Feb or march. Would like a fainting goats. Interesting addition.
Also another mini donkey to breed with Fanny, to have a mule...

Selling most of my goats

I have decided that raising isn't fun anymore! And I never made any money selling them.  Soooo I'm going to start learning Healing Touch. It is amazing ....

Rainy dreary day , ice storm coming.

My babies are growing so fast. time to find homes for them. I have 8 kids to sell. some meat some dairy. I will keep a few but sell most of them. Good homes a must.

It was fun milking and making cheese, but time consuming.

2014, doesn't seem right!  Where does the time go! I have goats getting bigger , every morning I hurry out to check them!

May 2013

All kids born, 11 total... None to sell. Going to eat the extras. Never done that before but I have a person to butcher and I will be having some cook outs. Maybe sell some meat.
Also have a tons of eggs now. Lov to give some chickens away...

All kids are born and healthy. Yea... 7 to sell,. 2 buckling and 5 doeling. most are part Spanish and dairy,so could be meat or dairy.

Spring, where oh where are you?

Kids are popping out 4 so far and 3 more does ready... they seem to want me to run around checking them...one male and 3 females. I got two kids with a trade they are 2 months old.
Now the fun begins, I have to milk....

pregnant does

I have does with udders developing and I wait. one doe is 3 and never been pg before, another is a new Alpine doe.  I think all my does are pg, maybe in March...  I bought a LaMancha and she was pg but kidded last week. He is bring her soon..So i will start milking her soon... "Yea, a little nervous. .
My last horse Dusty a 2 yr old mustang had loose poops. i found you can not feed wheat bran to a horse... poor baby..

 

Fodder system

I have been reading about fodder for animals , benefits etc. I bought shelves, trays and hoses, now to build a small room in my garage. I think this will be very beneficial for all my critters and hopefully cut down on amt of grains I need to feed

Time flies by and I had forgotten about this blog. Sold lots of does, still have more to sell.
I bought 8 alpacas and things were going great then 3 died . Thought the world had ended.
So sad to lose animals.

Hatching chicks and keets though. They are so cute when little. One hatching is all roosters. They have to go. I have more I don't know the sex and a guinea sitting on eggs. 3 wks and hope all hatch.

Weather turned hot again, yuck!!!

Almost 2013

I can't believe I haven't posted since April!  So many changes here.  I bought 8 alpacas and lost 5 to parasites. Very sad. I sold most of my goats and bought some dairy does. My plan is to milk and make cheese and butter.
I rescued another horse, a mustang, 26 yr old named Dusty. He is gaining weight.
Still working on my house but getting a lot closer! Praise The Lord !!!

Changing animals

Well, I am selling out goats and going with alpacas. People don't eat them. Bought 8, 4 females and 4 males. Maybe two more fiber males later. One baby due any day, then breed back all four females after that. Eleven months gestation, long time, maybe sell some or kept building my herd. So far do good
